This concern is greatly increased by the fact that the majority of my customers are small children. When you allow your child to be painted, you are putting the safety of your child into the artist's hands. That's why we use only Snazaroo paints, which are ranked extremely high in safety and quality: because we believe in using the best and safest products available. Snazaroo paints are hypoallergenic, which means they're safe for use on sensitive skin; FDA-compliant, which means that they have undergone rigorous safety testing by the Food and Drug Administration; and they are water-based, which means that they wash off easily with mild soap and warm water. About Our Services
What services do you currently offer?
Faces by Emily offers phenomenal face painting which can be enjoyed by all ages, as well as many other exciting services, such as:
Airbrushed Tattoos--these gorgeous designs are created quickly using FDA-compliant, alcohol based paint that is airbrushed onto the body to create stunning works of art that can last up to a week! While airbrushed tattoos are safe for all ages and skin types, these designs may not be applied on the face and are not recommended for small children under the age of 10. Tattoos may be removed at any time with isopropyl alcohol.
Balloon twisting--an entertaining addition to any event, balloons are twisted and molded into familiar animals, wacky hats, and other fun shapes. Balloon twisting is exciting to watch, and balloon sculptures are safe for all ages, but parents of small children 5 or under are reminded that if popped, balloons produce debris that may present a safety hazard.
Crazy Hair--produced with temporary aerosol spray hair colors and small accessories--the hair is not just colored, but completely transformed! Stripes, spots, and more are designed on the hair for an effect that is truly show-stopping. Crazy hair designs require a well-ventilated area, so they are an excellent option for outdoor events. These creations simply wash out with shampoo and water, but they leave a lasting impression!
Faces by Emily is also proud to offer awe-inspiring, top quality Balloon Sculptures and Centerpieces that never fail to amaze! These sculptures range in size from about a foot to several feet tall, and are constructed using anywhere between ten and hundreds of balloons! What kinds of parties or events do you do?
You name it! Almost anywhere there will kids or adults who want to do something fun and different! Birthday Parties, Family Parties/Picnics/ Reunions, Holiday Parties, Grand Openings, Weddings, Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Graduation/End of School Year Parties, Sporting Events, Community Outreaches, Church Functions, School Events, Scouting Events, Corporate Events, Fairs, Festivals, Car Shows and Fundraisers, just to name a few!
Do you paint just the children at parties, or do you also paint the adults?
We paint adults all the time at parties! Our face painting appeals to all ages. Some clients have us paint everyone, some have us just paint the children. It depends entirely upon what you prefer. The more people, the more time it will take. We always discuss this issue ahead of time with our clients.
Are You A Clown or a Character?
We come in casual, professional clothes and designated company t-shirts so we can be easily identified as the entertainers. We will often times paint our own faces before events. We do not dress like a clown or act like one, nor are we typically characters. However, we do have a number of costumes and would be more than happy try to accommodate your particular theme.
About Our Face Painting
Will face painting alone be enough entertainment for my party?
Yes! Kids love face painting and they get very excited when they see our design books! Many parties we do have just face painting, and it is enough to keep the kids busy and happy. If you wish to add more pizzazz to your event, ask about adding balloon twisting or crazy hair designs to your party package!
What ages do you paint?
We paint children ages two and up. However, we usually can only do a limited range of simple designs on children under four... They can be a little squirmy, and afraid of strangers and new experiences! Usually cheek art on the face or hand is the only option for toddlers. Most children four and up have no problem sitting still.
Are your designs airbrushed or hand-painted?
We hand-paint all of our face painting designs with paint brushes and sponges, however we also offer airbrushed tattoos which are a different service. Read about the services we offer above for more information, or call us with any questions!
Do you paint full-face designs?
Absolutely! We paint full-face designs, cheek art and body art. We bring display books or boards so the children can choose what they like and where they are comfortable being painted.
Prices & Payment Options
Do you ever give discounts?
We strive to provide superior service at very reasonable prices, however, discounts can be arranged for many reasons, including large parties or events over many hours, fundraisers, church or school functions, or even for personal reasons... We believe that every child deserves a special event! If you are organizing an event for one of these groups or a similar organization, or simply if you are planning a personal event on a tight budget, please ask about different event options and we may be able to assist in creating a party plan that will fit your budget and satisfy your event needs.
Do you accept credit cards?
Unfortunately, we do not accept credit cards for private events at this time. We gladly accept cash, business or personal checks upon satisfactory completion of services at your event, or you can pay online for your event with PayPal.
Am I expected to tip you?
It is always appropriate to tip those providing a service to you if you're pleased with the service provided (just like waitresses or the pizza delivery person!); therefore tips are always appreciated and gladly accepted at both pay-per-face and privately booked events alike, however, you will never be pressured into tipping.
Booking Information
How far in advance do I need to book you?
We have no set policy. As long as we're available, we accept last minute bookings with no extra charge. However, you need to book us as early as possible to ensure someone else doesn’t take your day. There is just no way to predict how early any particular day will get booked. We suggest booking your party at least 2 weeks in advance, which is also the amount of time necessary in order to book a themed event, but keep in mind that holidays and holiday weekends fill up much more quickly than other days!
What if I need to cancel my booking?
If you need to cancel a booking, simply contact us and let us know as soon as possible. There is no cancellation fee; however, if you have made a deposit on your event, it is non-refundable (although in most cases, a credit for the same amount can be given toward a future booking).
What cities do you work in?
We cover the entire St. Louis area, including but certainly not limited to St. Charles, St. Peters, Florissant, O'Fallon, Chesterfield, and Clayton, as well as most of Southern Illinois, and many parts of Western and Southern Indiana. Travel fees may apply, but this will be addressed well in advance, and your price will not change after you have booked your event. Contact us if you have any questions about our coverage area: we can generally always make exceptions and travel well outside our normal radius for extra travel expenses.
Can I have you offer the kids a limited menu of only your quickest designs?
Yes! We can customize the designs offered in order to fit your needs in any way necessary. We usually regulate beforehand what designs we will offer based on the number/approximate age group of guests and booking duration, but if you have specific requests about what we show in our boards/books, just let us know while you're making your booking!
Questions About the Party
How do you handle parties with both boys & girls?
We always put out a variety of design samples, whether it is all boys, all girls, or both. There are boys who ask for butterflies, and there are girls who ask for dragons! We have plenty of “girly” designs, and plenty of designs boys think are cool, too!
How do you organize the event entertainment at parties?
Typically, we try to set up in an out of the way corner and just allow the party or event to just "happen". The children are free to come and go to enjoy other activities, and we encourage them to do so… but many times they all want to watch their friends being painted or receiving balloon animals which is great! However, we can organize the event entertainment according to your needs. This will be discussed at the time of your booking.
Do I need to provide anything for you like a table and chairs?
We have our own equipment, everything from chairs and tables to canopy tents, but we DO need to know whether or not to bring them with us. Often if a party is taking place in a client's home or at a public indoor venue (Chuck E. Cheese, a community center, etc), the client will have us set up at an existing table of their choice. We will discuss this arrangement when you book your event.
